While exploring the various apps and things that came with my new iPhone 6S, I found that there is an easy-peasy Podcasts app pre-installed! Don’t get me wrong, I am NOT a fan of iPhones, but this handy app has been MUCH easier to use than any Android podcast app I’ve ever used. So I did a general search for unsolved mysteries (in general) and happened upon this gem of a podcast.
After I downloaded the most current episode of the podcast and gave it a listen, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the podcast actually discusses segments from the TV show Unsolved Mysteries! Though I didn’t get to watch it as much as I would’ve liked growing up, the little bit I did see was great (Yes, I even gobbled up the SpikeTV re-boot, a mystery is a mystery to me). So when I listened to the podcast, sometimes the mysteries they discussed were the first I’ve ever heard of them.
Unsolved mysteries are various cases of murder, missing persons, and paranormal encounters that cannot or have not been explained or solved. A couple of examples of truly unsolved mysteries are the Dyatlov Pass incident and the Kecksburg UFO incident. But there are mysteries that have been solved after the television show broadcast the segments, such as the Dennis DePue case and the kidnapping of Missy Mundy.
The podcast I am referring to is called Uncovering Unexplained Mysteries and they post a podcast weekly and they usually run around an hour or an hour and a half, depending on the topic. The hosts are Josh and Mike, two fans of the original Robert Stack hosted version of Unsolved Mysteries. Each podcast contains 3 segments from the television show that the hosts discuss. Occasionally they will add in a segment that does not appear on the Unsolved Mysteries television show. Their commentary of the cases is very thorough and their differing opinions on various subjects really give a the listener a positive sense of duality and variation. One of the main reasons why I like the podcast is the personalities of the hosts. Josh is very comedic and open when he speaks, plus his language usage is why I would not suggest you listen to this podcast with children. Mike is a little more reserved but he gives great analysis and commentary. I even enjoy the banter between the hosts even when they go off-topic.
